Skoda reveals interior of upcoming Scala

The new hatchback will be available with the virtual cockpit instrument display as well as a simplified central console with large touchscreen.

Before its official reveal next week, Skoda has shown off the interior of the upcoming Scala.

Set to be unveiled on December 6 in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, the Scala takes inspiration from the Vision RS concept that was displayed earlier this year – with the simplified interior one of the main aspects.

The Czech brand has provided the Scala with some of the latest VW Group technology, such as a 9.2-inch central touchscreen which is the main focus of the dashboard – while customers can also choose the virtual cockpit instrument display setup. Both of these screens means the Scala offers the largest displays in its segment.

All of the air conditioning, start/stop and driving mode buttons are all found in a simple section around the gear shifter, while all the materials used are soft touch for a better feeling interior.

Norbert Weber, Skoda head of interior design, said: “The new Skoda Scala is the first production model to feature our new interior concept, introducing an updated design language alongside new colours and materials.

“Its premiere in the Scala marks the beginning of a new brand identity for Skoda, which is as emotive as it is functional.”

The Scala is being introduced as a replacement for the Rapid, with the new model set to go on sale at the start of 2019.
