Ferrari has unveiled an upgrade package for its FXX-K track-exclusive hypercar that takes even more advantage of its immense power output.
Taking inspiration from the various racing series Ferraris are used in around the world, such as Formula One and GT racing, the FXX-K Evo employs aerodynamic features that make it super-fast on track.
The original FXX-K that was unveiled in 2015 is based on the LaFerrari hypercar, which uses a combination of electric power and a V12 naturally aspirated engine. The track-only version has 1035bhp at its disposal and produces incredible amounts of downforce due to the adaptive aerodynamic features.
The Evo pack adds extra downforce to make 23 per cent more than the standard FXX-K thanks to a fixed rear wing that works with the adaptive aerodynamic system. That means it produces the same level of aerodynamic performance as GT3 and GTE race cars.
With additional fins fitted to create vortices and help airflow over the wings, as well as offering more stability at lower speed, the Evo pack makes a mean-looking vehicle even more menacing.
New elements on the rear and underside of the car also provide more grip at high speed, such as a redesigned rear splitter to improve the channelling of the air, and Ferrari has also changed the suspension to adapt to the new aerodynamic capabilities.
As the Italian brand is world-renowned for its Formula One pedigree, the interior is inspired by that thanks to integrated paddle shifters and a new steering wheel with LED rev-counter and KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) button to add a power boost. A larger rear-view screen has also been added.
Ferrari will be building a limited number of FXX-K Evo models for customers chosen by the brand, and will also be offering it as an upgrade pack for the ‘standard’ FXX-K.
